Bontril (Phendimetrazine) is a prescription drug that supresses appetite and stimulates the central nervous system. It stimulates the satiety (feeling of fullness) centers of the brain. Bontril must be used in combination with a reduced calorie diet, and regular exercise. It CANNOT substitute for a poor diet. Unfortunately, most who use the drug to lose weight seem to regain the weight upon discontinuing bontril.
Side Effects of Bontril: Bontril has caused many different side effects like flushing, blurred vision, hyperactivity, restlessness, anxiety, hypertension, dizziness, headache, insomnia, diarrhea, and changes sex drive, severe allergic reactions, hallucinations, chest pain, pounding heart and difficulty urinating.
Dependence: Bontril can be habit forming, and its use can result in physical and psychological dependence, as well as withdrawal symptoms when stopped. Many physicians do NOT prescribe this medication because of side effects and potentials for abuse.
