Is someone truly being spiritual or is she just putting on a show? Often neither the performer nor the audience can tell the difference. Spinning your wheels and phony spiritual performances are common occurrences:
1. when using spiritual tools (meditation, yoga, prayer, rituals, ceremonies and sacred objects), and
2. when following paths of (a) being happy, (b) feeling God's love more and more, (c) living up to ideals, (d) doing the right thing, (e) doing what you want and (f) feeling good.
Telling the difference depends upon your own clarity and your own lack of inner fears. Many are so lost in hero worship and "all this is so wonderful" that they never notice the spiritual junk.
If you regularly notice phony spirituality in New Age participants, then it is likely that you have reduced your inner fears far below the norm. The more you are aligned with your soul, the less often you will give such performances and the less often you will be fooled by others' performances.

| Excerpt from Be Your Own Therapist: "The concept of a trauma knot may be useful, a knot in which words, emotions, sensations and thoughts are all intertwining strands within the knot. Depending upon the size and complexity of the knot, loosening one or two strands may or may not completely untie the knot (permanent healing)." |
