Folks who get sucked in too much by a "do-what-you-want" philosophy look and act like children following their latest whims. Nowadays most people know that following sexual whims without care or thought will likely lead to serious disease, not to mention lousy relationships. Most also know that feeling-good at the expense of willpower will often lead to smoking, alcohol, drug or food abuse. Yet millions apply no such curbs to their New Age whims and desires. They label most everything spiritual, and thus everything they desire is wonderful by definition.
It is most unpopular to talk about willpower these days. Most of us have had unpleasant and unhappy experiences with trying too hard. I agree that applying too much willpower will always be unsuccessful. Instead, would you consider just a little willpower? I believe a small amount of willpower is essential if people are to move through the spirituality maze expeditiously.
