Healthy fresh produce is important for all of us. These archived cooking/food tips emphasize ways to enhance flavors, improve the quality of preparation or to maintain the freshness of the produce, organic or not.

Put tomatoes which are not quite ripe into a paper bag and store on your kitchen counter for a day or two. A ripe tomato is going to smell like a tomato.


Balsamic vinegar and strawberries go well together. Whenever you are using fresh strawberries in a recipe consider adding a splash of balsamic to the dish.


Did you smell up your microwave with burned popcorn? Place a few drops of lemon juice in a cup of water and nuke it until it is hot.



To keep bean sprouts fresh in your refrigerator store them in water in a covered plastic container.


Good Feng Shui for the kitchen: Keep a bowl of 9 (because it's a good Feng Shui power number) oranges (good luck) on display in your kitchen. Make sure all of the oranges are still good. Bad produce is bad Feng Shui.

Not salting your beans in the beginning is going to result in them cooking a whole lot faster.
